Evergreen forests, Deciduous forests, Tidal forests, Mountain forests or Himalayan forests and Thorn forests are the five kinds of forests found in India.
Rosewood and Mahogany are the two trees found in Evergreen forests.
Teak and Sal are the two trees found in the Deciduous forests.
In India, Tidal forests are found in the deltas. of rivers Ganga, Godavari, Mahanadi, Yamuna and Northern Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
We get timber, firewood, wood pulp, rubber, gum, cork, resin, medicinal herbs and fruits from forests.
Evergreen forests are found in the rainy slopes of the Western Ghats in Kerala and Karnataka, Odisha, the Jaintia and Khasi Hills of northeast and in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. Rosewood, Mahogany and Ebony are some trees that are found in these forests. The wood of these trees is very hard.
Thorn forests are mainly found in the northwestern parts of the Great Indian Desert of Rajasthan and in parts of Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh. Babool and Kikar are the main trees in these forests.
