The climate of the southern plateaus differs from place to place. During winter, the northern parts of the plateau remain very hot. The weather on the Ghats remains pleasant.

Madhya Pradesh is known as the “heart of India” as it is situated in the middle of India. The temple of Khajuraho and Kanha National Park and Bandhavgarh National Park are situated in Madhya Pradesh. Bhilai Steel Plant is a famous Steel Plant of Chhattisgarh.

Most of the rivers flowing in the southern plateaus are not as large as those in the Northern Plains, but they flow with great speed. Many rivers like Godavari, Krishna, Kaveri and Mahanadi flow Eastwards and join the Bay of Bengal while Narmada and Tapi are the two rivers that flow westwards and merge with the Arabian Sea.
