➧ Saudi Arabia is a large country in West Asia. It is situated in the Arabian Peninsula, the largest peninsula of the world. ➧ Most part of Saudi Arabia is a rocky plateau that is covered by a large desert. ➧ It does not have any river. But at some places in the Saudi desert, there is water and greenery. Such a place in a desert is called oasis. ➧ Thorny plants like cacti and thorny bushes grow here. Date palm is a useful tree that grows here. ➧ Goat, sheep and camel are reared for milk, meat and skin. Camel is known as the ship of the desert due to its usefulness as the main means of transport in the desert. ➧ Since there is very little rainfall, sea water is desalted to get water for drinking and irrigation. ➧ Men of Saudi Arabia wear a loose fitting robe called 'thwab' and a head gear called 'gutra’.
