The function on this occasion began in the morning of the 15th August last at our school premises which were beautifully decorated with various flowers and colorful festoons. Students came to school early in the morning with beautiful dresses. A well decorated Platform was erected for the occasion. Dr. A. Chatterjee, an eminent educationist, Presided over the function, which began with the singing of a patriotic song in chorus-then the president hoisted the national flag. We saluted the flag and sang our national anthem. Then the students sang various Patriotic songs and recited poems befitting the occasion. A few of our teachers spoke on the occasion about the significance of the day. At last the President made a stirring speech. He advised us to love our motherland and fight against evil forces.
